AHIMSA IN ACTION

the art of creating compassionate spaces

with Heidi Kalyani

“If you want to improve the world, start by making people feel safer.”
STEPHEN PORGES

Ahimsa, the first of Patanjali’s yamas or ways of being (from the Yoga Sutras), encourages us to move through the world with compassion, reverence, and peace. As yoga and wellness teachers, this vow of causing no harm manifests in our interactions with students, and in the spaces we create for them.

Combining the ancient wisdom of ahimsa, the sacred practice of holding space, and the revolutionary science of polyvagal theory (nervous system regulation), this weekend retreat explores the art of creating compassionate spaces for you and your students.

Joining me for this inspiring and empowering retreat will enable you to support yourself and your students in shifting from feeling anxious, stressed, exhausted or overwhelmed, to feeling open, at ease, curious and connected — and more ready for the growth and transformation that your classes so powerfully offer!

Materials include a beautiful, custom-designed card deck to support your own practice and share with your students, an inspiring and informative booklet detailing core concepts, a collection of actionable practices you can easily implement and share, as well as journal prompts to deepen your personal reflection and embodiment.

Come alone, or with other teachers from your studio! (Private retreats for individual studios available upon request.)

* In addition to yoga and wellness teachers, others instructors who lead group classes are also welcome! 🙂

SOOTHING THE NERVOUS SYSTEM WITH SOUND

a weekend retreat

with Heidi Kalyani

“Stay close to any sounds that make you glad you are alive.”
HAFIZ

Join me for a deep dive into the heart of nervous system regulation using the power of sound and the vibrant, resonant silence that accompanies it.

Through a weekend of immersion in nature, supportive community and simple yet powerful sound-based contemplative practices, you will discover ways to soothe and nourish your autonomic nervous system, so that you feel grounded, rested, resourced and more deeply connected with yourself, others and the world around you.

Our time together will provide opportunities for both self- and co-regulation, featuring sound journeys with guided meditation and singing bowls, gentle practices of humming, singing and mantra-based lullabies, and a transformative exploration of the unique map of your own nervous system using the wisdom of polyvagal theory. There will also be solo time for journalling, walking the beautiful trails, practicing yoga and meditation, or sitting quietly in the inspiring silence!

Come alone, or share this rejuvenating weekend with a friend. All are welcome!
