SINGING WITH HEART
nervous system regulation through meditative chanting
a 6-week session
with Heidi Kalyani
“She sang late into the night, till her heart was full.”
ANAMIKA MISHRA
Join me for a weekly evening of kirtan — a practice of joyful meditation and community connection from the yoga tradition.
Kirtan is more than just singing. It’s a sacred opening of the heart, a deep massage for the nervous system, and an inspiringly beautiful way to blend our individual voices together into something much larger.
Weekly sessions include a gentle warm-up (to loosen the chest and shoulders, open up the throat and bring us into a meditative space), followed by some unison mantra chanting and lots of call and response singing.
I accompany our voices with my harmonium (a small hand-pumped organ) and saz (a lovely little stringed lute). Lyrics are in Sanskrit, the ancient language of sound yoga. Lyric sheets will be provided and explained! Themes include peace, unity, courage, clarity, compassion, the divine feminine, and inner transformation.
